Alex Graham Bakers & Catering sits quietly on W Burnside Street in Kilsyth, offering more than just your typical bakery experience. This spot blends the ease of a takeout bakery with a modest cafe setting—just a handful of tables invite visitors to settle in for a casual, no-fuss meal. It’s the kind of place you might pop into after a morning errand or on a lunch break, especially if you appreciate hearty, home-style fare alongside excellent baked goods.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, shaped by friendly staff who seem to genuinely know their regulars, which adds a subtle local charm. It’s not a place for formal dining but rather for comfort food served up warmly, where the buzz often includes neighbours chatting over lunch or families picking up a treat to take home.

Steak pies come highly recommended by those who’ve made repeat visits—rich, generously filled with tender beef, these have clearly found their following in the community. For those stopping by without countdowns on calories, the bakery selection appears to be a highlight, with plenty of tempting sweet options and fresh cream donuts that are talked about with particular affection. The nut-free atmosphere also caters thoughtfully to allergy-conscious visitors, an important detail for some local and visiting customers alike.

Given the mix of takeaway convenience and some seating, the best times to visit likely include weekday lunchtimes or quiet afternoons when you can grab a seat and enjoy a hot item fresh from the kitchen. Locals seem to appreciate that they can pop in, easily either to fuel up with a solid lunch or to pick up baked goods that feel like a little indulgence from the ordinary.

In summary, Alex Graham Bakers & Catering feels like a practical, well-loved spot for those who want straightforward, good-quality cafe food and bakery treats without the fuss. It fits neatly into the rhythms of Kilsyth life as a place to pause briefly, catch up with neighbours, and walk away with something satisfying to eat now or enjoy later.

Every time we go in there we can honestly say that we enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. We always get other things to take home the steak pies are delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful.

If you are not counting calories, go visit the best bakery in the district! Obviously it's takeaway is the shop part, but there are 7 tables I think, so if you want to sit in for any hot item that's for sale, or a more substantial feed, then you can. It is cafe food, so don't be precious, but if you want to have it, then it is reasonable and served by smashing staff. A previous review mentioned greasy items, and unfortunately i have experienced this, but I now go for the sweet stuff and am rarely disappointed! I woukd suggest you try it and you will find something you like, just don't go if you are on a diet.....

Been three times now, the large steak pie is by far the best I’ve ever tasted, jam packed with soft tender beef. Twice I’ve had free cakes thrown in too

My wife and I travel from Kent to visit her dad. We always make a point of coming to this cafe. It’s the best cafe in all of Scotland!! And as my wife has a nut allergy, they are perfect as an entirely nut free cafe. Their cream donuts are to die for!!!
